Exhibition at William Rupnik Gallery
September 15 – October 19, 2012
Ontario Gold honors the dividing line of Cleveland’s down-low and up-high cultures; it is a two-tone collection of images that explore the balance between inspiration and alienation. The exhibit’s namesake, Ontario Street, can be viewed as the epicenter of the city’s rebirth or simply as a street that people cross to get to Tower City. To the golden illuminations erected by casino magnates, it stands as a prism that tempers the dreams of the foolhardy and inspires children to strive for excellence. Cleveland SGS is both rare and nonreactive, Ontario Gold is the manifestation of these two most essential attributes.
